What To Expect

We are pleased that you have chosen us to assist in your care. Our facility combines the latest surgical technology with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. This page is designed to provide as much information as possible and to help answer many of the questions you may have regarding your surgery prior to your visit. Prior to surgery:

You will receive pre-op instructions regarding medication, food and drink from your doctor's office at the time your surgery is scheduled.

Please carefully follow the fasting instructions you received from our facility. Failure to do so could result in the cancellation of your surgery.

All patients are to bathe with 4% Chlorehexidine soap that can be purchased over the counter at your local pharmacy store.

DO NOT consume any alcohol 24 hours before your surgery as this will interfere with anesthesia and may cause bleeding problems.

Certain important medications should be taken on the day of the surgery with a small sip of water, unless instructed otherwise by your physician or a member of our staff. Certain important medications include: Cardiac, blood pressure, respiratory and neurological medications. For further clarifications, please contact us at 305-595-2414.

If you have diabetes controlled by oral medication or insulin, please discuss this with the doctor's office at the time you schedule your surgery. Do not take diabetes medications prior to surgery unless stated otherwise by your doctor.

Refrain from using powders, lotions or any kind of cosmetics on the face, eyes, chest and arms. No jewelry or valuables.

If you develop a fever, cough or other medical problem, please contact your physician.

The day of your surgery:

Please wear a shirt or top that buttons down the front and has loose fitting sleeves and cuffs.

No Smoking on the day of surgery.

On admission, you will be escorted to our pre-op area where a registered nurse will review your current health status, including medication you may be currently taking.

There will be equipment used to monitor your heart (EKG), blood pressure, blood oxygen levels and pulse at all times. Blood sugar levels will also be monitored if ordered by your physician.

You will be taken to the operating room for your surgery. The anesthetist and nurses will make sure you are comfortable during your surgery.

Following surgery and a short recovery period, you will be taken to our discharge area. You will be given a snack and instructions from your surgeon for care after your surgery.


After surgery:

You will receive detailed instructions of care after your surgery.

DO NOT consume any alcohol for 24 hours following your surgery.
